I'm seriously considering getting a NEX-5: the draw of being able to use my LTMs is too much, even with the increased magnification. I also have some nice M42 and SMC K-mount lenses that I can get adapters for which is another bonus. Manual operation is fine for me - it's actually my preferred option.

My question is to those who have bought adapters for various lenses. Looking on the 'bay shows a lot of traders from Hong Kong or China offering adapters at quite reasonable prices and I don't want to spend what I think is megabucks. But I also don't want to buy adapters that don't work.

How are these adapters? Any problems to watch out for? Have they fallen apart in the first couple of weeks? Do they leak light? Is the lens fitting good? Can you get focus to infinity? Are you happy with them or do you wish you'd bought something more expensive / not bothered and stuck with the kit lenses?

I ask because I know readers here have used third-party adapters, but I don't know if they relied upon (relatively) expensive operations like CameraQuest or went east for the bargains.

I live in HK, I use NEX and bought a lot of adapters, here are the adapters i would recommend:

For L39 & M42 get from this ebay seller:
copijohn

For Leica M & Alpa to NEX get the metabones (expensive but they are well made and smooth)

Just about all of the M adapters focus past infinity, which isn't too big of a deal. I own both the Metabones and Voigtlander M adapter, and they are both built well. The Voigtlander has the advantage of a well designed, low profile release tab, so it doesn't interfere with your fingers when they're gripping the camera.
