Nex 5 ?

I've had some time to do tests with this inexpensive Fotodiox Adapter and my Olympus OM lenses.

The new firmware makes a crucial upgrade and the user interface is now great.

Focusing with my 50/1.4 OM lens is quick. The "MF Assist" option is easy to hit with your thumb which makes the screen zoom in 7x or 14x for precise focusing. The OM adapter does add some length to the lens, but nothing horrible. The adapters with the smallest depth/size are LTM, M-mount, C-mount and Olympus Pen lenses.

Speaking of Pen adapters, does anyone have one and have any issues with it? Mine doesn't lock onto my 38mm f/1.8 (which itself has no problems mounting on my FT), which is really annoying. On the other hand, returning it to the seller would result in me not having the adapter for probably a month or so. Decisions....

Been using a NEX-5 for a while now, thoughts....

Shutter lag is not noticeable, a tiny delay, no different from my old GF-1

Lack of VF, I bought the optional viewfinder, but it really affected it's pockectability, and the non-standard hotshoe is very clumsy compared to a proper one, too fiddly to attach and re-attach stuff all the time.

Image quality is outstanding, amazing in fact, but the 16mm is poor wide open.

I prefer it to my old GF-1, if only for it's size.

Using MF lenses is much easier than on the GF1, the screen on the back is sharper and brighter, don't need to zoom in. Dedicated focus assist zoom button, nice.
