FYI to all-- this may be known but is new to me.

I have only tested RF 50mm and 85mm, but these lenses can close focus to the macro level on the nex.

I bought an old kilfitt macro setup which just arrived. It included an LTM tube--well much more than a tube, because it has a very slik focus onboard. This tube is designed to subsitute for a visoflex when desired. It's range is 50-57mm.

It's LTM on both sides. F/M

I put an 85 and a 50 LTM on it and found myself right away at a sharp, near celluar level.

It's a revelation to me :)

I'll get some pics up when I get a chance :)

OK here it is:

Canon LTM RF 85/1.8 on the kilfitt focus tube.

grabbed my LTM RF 50/1.2

and screwed it on there-- I was loking for the bokeh :)

I was pretty excited, so all shots you see are handheld

these are not crops, how close was I? Here is a gross but effective way to show (my thumb)

again no crop, but smaller so nobody throws up. :)

How about the 85 shown above?

all these are teeny flowers, but how close?

I was shooting HANDHELD wide open at about 400 iso to get a fast shutter speed. I think it's pretty obvious some very respectable captures could be made with a tripod and really good focus.

anyway revelation to me :)

what about the little kilar 90/3.5?

So it's basically functioning as a variable-length extension tube.

Nice snag.

Kilfitt made some really interesting cool optics.

This NEX thing is about as flexible a system as I can remember. Seems more so than the Micro 4/3. Am I right on this?

I don't think it is any more flexible, but definitely as flexible. The significantly reduced crop factor is a godsend coming from M 4/3 though.
