Given the labor involved in putting bulk film onto cassettes oneself, it's not clear to me why the bulk film isn't cheaper. There's just not a lot of savings there and a ton of hours/work. I shoot about 4-6 rolls a week so perhaps that's not really enough volume to justify -- Tom you shoot about a gazillion times that, from what I can tell. Still, am I missing something?

Vince, it really depends on the film.
the gap for arista premium is very small, but for all Ilford films the difference is substantial.

In the UK the differential doesn`t seem to be that great unless you`re using cheaply bought expired film or you shoot a substantial amount of film.

Having said that you can buy HP5 at £3.39 (Speedgraphic) Who have Tri-X at £3.69 BTW.
No affiliation economically with either.
