Next step (upgrade)

Posted some first shots with my Leica here:

I also noticed little white spots on my scans, i'm not sure it's my scanner or it's the camera (it's pretty consistant). If it's the camera it'll probably over after the CLA.

I think i'll have to buy a UV-filter or other protection for my 40mm (and my 15mm), any advice on finding those? I already have the standard shades and a lenscap for the 40mm.
 
I think the white spots are dust on the film when you are scanning them.

And on the filters, LTM version of the 15mm cannot hold filters.
 
With a bit of work you can take a filter adapter to the 12mm and get it to fit a 15mm, but it's a lot of work. My 15 was not out so often that I worried about it. Another approach is to find a different lens cap (plastic) and glue a finder blocker to it. That way you will remember to take the cap off when you are shooting (only down side to RFs).

The CL is old enough that when buying one assume a CLA is in order. Like buying an older car; I assume you'd expect to do an oil change, change filters and fluids plus probably battery, shocks, etc. It is the only way to really know the potential. Also, send the lenses so the camera and lenses can be adjusted as a unit for the rangefinder and cam.

At the same time, consider having the meter battery voltage changed to the newer 1.5 silver battery.

As for adding/changing; It is a matter of preference and luck. I have the 90mm Rokkor lens as it came with the kit but use it seldom. I do use it for portraits and after a short time found it worked very well for portraits. A slightly different perspective that gives me otehr than what I call a cookie cutter result so common these days. I did look for and get as many filters as possible with adaptors, hoods, etc. Also, a Visioflex for macro work.

The Visioflex is cool to work with. Once set up the camera is little different from an slr for closeup work. The built in meter makes it much easier to use than mating the Visioflex with the M4 and prior cameras and having to deal with calculating exposures.

The M camera may be not quite as versatile as a M body (especially the M6 and later) but with some time and research can be a very complete system. I think if I had to sell off every camera but one, the one I'd keep would be the CL.
