Waiting on Maitani
Well, I started this round of T.O. RFF meet-up, now it looks llike I may not make it. :bang: My daughter's plans have changed a bit, looks like she may be working part of her break (she works at Carman's Cameras in Stratford, so how can I object to that?), and so I may take her back prior to the 18th. That means I wouldn't be likely to make another trip up on the 18th, but I'm not sure yet.
I'm sure you guys will not mind getting together anyway and telling lies and drinking Gene's share, so I won't apologize.
I hope it works out that I make it but we'll have to wait and see.
Slainte,
Earl

We need someone from the downtown area to arrange a place. Dave indicated he would be busy, right? So we can't count on him. There's Victor or Bill who might help. Anyone else familiar with the area willing to organize?

Oops, sorry to hear that, Earl!

Do we want to just lunch'n'brew or lunch'n'brew and take a wander aferwards (providing we're still able after those pints for Gene and Earl)?
We could invade somewhere along the Esplanade if we want to be downtown (C'est What or Flatiron and Firkin for example).

Any RFFers in Toronto? I will be there to attend a medical congress in June and I am wondering what is the weather like? Any interesting sights and places that must be seen?

Guys,
Bill had a good suggestion of The Bedford Academy - it's just north of Bloor Street off of Bedford Rd which is one block west of Avenue/University.
If you guys go for a Lunch and Brew thing you can then walk (or trundle as some would have it
) over to the University of Toronto area. Lots of nice stuff a short 10 min walk away as long as the weather's decent
Here's a link to the Bedford Academy map:
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=e...ll=43.669563,-79.396992&spn=0.012091,0.035706
It's got standard "pub fare" as well as local / large brewery brews.
It's a decent spot, not exactly great for light but not bad on the upper floors or out in the front room.
There's the St. George subway station (bedford exit) about 2 minutes away.
You can then go to the U of T:
http://oracle.osm.utoronto.ca/map/index2.html
Note the pathway in between Avenue Rd and Devonshire Place on the south side that goes right between the Royal Ontario Museum and the Royal Conservatory of Music. "Philosopher's Walk" is a nice short walk and takes you behind some of the buildings ending up on Hoskin Avenue near to, as my good friend Trevor would say, "Esteemed Trinity College" (Trev's an alumni of Trinity..
). Of course, you could also walk along Bloor heading East to Yorkville area as well which offers some standard "hoidy toidy" shopping street scenes
I've got a 40th birthday to tend to that afternoon out in Ajax but would be there in spirit !!! (and I owe Frank a filter still
)
Cheers
Dave

If you're coming from Singapore.... bring a sweater and a light jacket. Hot and Humid in TO = nice day in S'pore
For TO, what you might like is the Kensington Market and St Lawrence markets for some more European flavour. The Distillery District (http://www.thedistillerydistrict.com) is a nice local spot.
Lots of Broadway style shows in the theatre district on King St. A walk along Queen St to Yonge St would be a nice street shooting experience.
Niagara Falls is just a 1 hour drive away. You have to see it once.

Thanks Dave!
So, can we see who's up for it, on Saturday March 18th, at 1pm?
I have broached the subject with "she who must be obeyed" and have been given clearance.

OK! OK! I'll be there. I wasn't sure I could make the 18th at first and then lost track of the thread (cue the sound of buttons falling).

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound uppity!
Even a "No, I can't make it," would be helpful.
