Nice article on state of film 2017

It'll be interesting to see if the resurgence continues to grow for color/slide film.

Certainly. That is the reason why Film Ferrania is working on its color reversal film (scheduled for this summer), and Eastman Kodak and Kodak Alaris are working on the Ektachrome.

I see it being easier for B&W film to continue to grow especially with self processing.

E6 and C41 processing at home is very easy and cost efficient. Especially with a Jobo CPE / CPA / CPP film processor. They are easily available on the used market. And also new. Jobo has recently introduced even new, improved models, the CPP3 and CPE3.
I have a new CPE3, wonderful machine. Highly recommended.
Colour home development kits are available from Fuji, Tetenal, Bellini and from several house brands.
It is much fun to do colour at home!

It's nothing as grand as say Kodachrome coming back, but I wouldn't mind seeing fresh Plus-X and TechPan coming back from the dead.

I've replaced Plus-X by Adox CHS 100 II: Similar tonality but even sharper, so I like the Adox even more.
TechPan is replaced by Adox CMS 20 II. The Adox has much higher resolution, better sharpness and much finer grain compared to TechPan.

Right, about slide film that would be a big development. I decided three years ago to stop using colour film altogether and concentrate on b&w (self-processing), but if slide film becomes available I could well re-think that decision. I still have the old slide projector. - need a place to develop the film though.
