Hi everyone,

I've had a nice Rollie 35 for a couple of years. I have also gone through two belt cases. neither was very functional. What I need is something small, with a nice fit, with firm construction, because of the weight, and something that allows the camera to enter horizontally, top plate up. I haven't been able to find anything local, and I cannot judge the dimensions acurately on the web. Has anyone found a case like this that they are comfortable with?

I purchsed several heavy nylon(?) belt cases last year from that

discount source. They carry the "Targus" label.

Holds the Rollei 35, Olympus XA, or newer Olympus Stylus nicely.

Belt loop, velcro fastening, holding up well...

but, it is a vertical carry. On the plus side, this allows you to

pull the camera smoothly from the pouch by the wrist strap.

Worn behind the hip, it is very comfortable, secure and discreet.

Did I mention that it was cheap? ;)

I find my two Rollei 35's to be too heavy and drag down on my belt for a belt pack carrier. Love the cameras but they are little bricks. Often carry my Olympus XA instead as a result. Even my Contax T2 seems less heavy (but I'm not sure if it is...)

Well,

I had some luck and I found the perfect case. It's a leather case with a tight belt loop, and it is a perfect fit. I mean absolutely perfect, it is a vertical carry, but with such a nice case I can live with that. It also has a slot for the wrist strap. It's a kodak slim carry case, $9.00 at k-mart!

I have one of those, but I didn't think to try it. I have been wearing the new case on my belt for a couple of days now, and it distributes the weight so well, that I do not notice the camera at all. The only drawback that I can see is that it lacks side flaps around the fold over top. Light will enter from the sides to the meter. I have fixed this by adding a block of felt to the rear inside of the case to cover the meter opening.

I have found that the Zing small belt pouch that closes with Velcro has been the most versatile carrying device I've ever owned. First bought for a Minox 35ML, it did duty for a number of opther small cameras and accessories, and is now - 20 years later - holding my BlackBerry.

The thing is cushioned, sturdy, unobtrusive, and takes an uncredible amount of abuse. The reason it's now carrying my BlackBerry is that ALL of the BlackBerry belt cases tended to break with hard wear, while the Zing pouch just flexed and stretched whenever everyday stress was applied. At US$10, you can't beat the price.
