Nice clean Nikon D60

Oops! Just put a Nikon D60 in a tray of disinfectant- about half in inch deep. I won't catch coronavirus off it now, but it's completely dead. No displays, no functions, no nothing. Any advice, beyond watching what I'm doing in future, and hope it works once it's dried out?

If it was in the postage for three days it was no virus on the surface of the camera.

Look on the bright side. It was only a Nikon D60. It could have been a Leica.

Take out the battery, take out the little battery that powers the internal clock usually found hidden behind the main battery. Flush with rubbing alky and let dry. Pray while it's drying.

Well, I took the baseplate off and left it on a windowsill to dry overnight. Just reassembled and it's deceased as the proverbial dodo.

Put it in a warm place and leave it there for a week or so. Consider it non-functional and try again in a week. If you are pleasantly surprised, great. Otherwise...

Just been out and picked up a D300. At least twice my intended spend, covered in dials and switches which lead to endless submenus I don't even begin to understand, but it does couple to proper, AI, Nikkors, so it can't be all bad.

Do Nikon do a digital Nikonos? That might be more appropriate.

A P&S style waterproof model, the Coolpix AW100. But you'll be happy with the D300, as it has been described as being "bullet proof". I've got a couple of used D300s' and have had no problems with them whatsoever. I upgraded from a D80, and found it was not a huge leap in understanding the menu system. They're not much use for making videos though.

I lost my D700 to a non-working card reader. Maybe I have broken or bent a pin or two in it? It is dead.
