The best camera is one that still works!
I just received an OM-4 in the mail from our own FrankS in Canada and this morning was the first chance I've had to take it out of the box and have a looksee and a play with it!
Usual thing with a new camera ... the first thing you want to do is hear the shutter and feel the action of the release. Switched it to manual and ran through a few shutter speeds and after about ten or so what I thought were dry firings I noticed the rewind crank was turning ... "oh sh!t, there's film in it!"
I remember when I got my Bronica RF645 from Frank he did the same thing ... he put a roll of HP5 in it for me. I think this is a very nice thing to do when you sell someone a camera ... it adds that little bit of extra something with your purchase ... pity I didn't notice it this time though!

You're welcome, Keith! Hope the OM4 has what you're looking for in a camera.
For myself, I've decided to stick with Nikon as my main 35mm SLR system. I'll still keep a few OM1's and 2's, as I have a couple of cameras from Canon, Minolta, Pentax, and Contax in my collection.

Frank, did that OM pass through my hands? I've lost count ...

Not this one, Earl. This one was a local Craigslist purchase a few months back.

so, lots of unfocused shots of your shoelace? or is that hiding behind a belly?

I have to say it's rather nice ... no OM-1 of course but very nice just the same and the available exposure control is amazing!

I think I did, though not on purpose.
The F6 for work, the OM4 for pleasure.

Keith-- An OM-4 and a F6 in the same week?
--Steve (who has just dusted-off & rebatteried a pair of OM2n's to use a pair of newly acquired OM Zuikos....)
I managed to go all this year without buying a thing ... in fact I sold a heap to rationalise, keep eating and paying rent etc so I don't feel quite so bad about buying two cameras in a couple of weeks and the F6 has been a holy SLR grail for me for some time. As has the OM-4 in a lot of ways!
Frank got it right ... Nikons for work, OMs for pleasure.

Shooter of Film...
I have Nikons that I use mostly for working...but I also have a few that are for pleasure...
One of the first things I look for in a camera is if there's film in it...I'll spin the rewind knob, check for tension, then pop the back open...
