in fact own the whole series if you are a really serious collector.

I know of a collector in Europe who is trying to do that!

Ok, you guys have confused me

Jim's 2 lenses have seven digit serial numbers, but Kiu's lens has a six digit serial number ..... what's the story???

Jon

4,5,6,7 numbers

4,5,6,7 numbers

jon,
they started with 9031, and made it to around 904089, i believe the 903,904 was the year-month code, and the rest were the number made,
jim

Thats the beauty of this batch, Nippon Kogaku started this batch from 9031! not 9030001!! There are 4 digit ,5 digit,6 digit and 7 digit serial numbers within this batch.
It's worth to note that this is the second batch of 8.5cm lenses NK produced, the first batch started with 801xxx numbers.
You wanna be more confused? As Jim Demonstrated there are Made In Occupied Japan and Made In Japan markings within this same group, to make matters worse, there are 904xxxx numbers out there too!

Go figure...

Kiu

PS: Jim beat me to it

Jim, they couldn't have produced 1300 some lenses in a month! this is 1949 we are talking about...

What do you think the break point was from 903 to 904? may be 9031500??
Makes sense?
