Nikkor 24mm f2.8 AIS

The 24/2.8 is a nice lens. From personal experience, I always have liked the 28's better. I have an AI 28/2 and it is truly a gem. My ultimate lens desire would be the 28/1.4. It's not necessarily better than the 24/1.4, just very different and I prefer the way it draws to the newer lens.

I had the 24/2.8 and 20/4 Nikkors for a while. The 24 was sharper in the corners and the extra stop of speed was helpful. Definitely a go-to lens for me, at the time.

I believe they are optically the same as is the AF version.

I've got 2 (AIs) of them. My wife uses hers on a FM2 as a snapshooter set at 5.6 and 3 meters. All she has to do is set the proper exposure by the speed dial and shoot. She's good from approx. 1.5 to 24 M. It's a wonderful lens.

Optically the same, but from memory the Ai version has a longer focus throw.

I totally agree with huddy. The Nikkor 28mm F2 is so much better than the 24mm F2.8 No contest! No flare, no ghosting, crystal clear sharpness from foreground to infinity, extra stop of speed and SIC coating (late versions). What more could you want. I would never sell the 28mm... Ever
