Hi,

I just got a Nikkor 35/1.8 with a Rapidwinder hood (Thanks C.!).
When mounting a 43mm filter the hood would not fit anymore.:bang:
What filter would I need to get to get a hood and filter mounted?

Ciao

Hi,

thanks for the link! Very informative.
The B&W filter did actually screw on just fine, but the hood would not reach the thread anymore.
Looks like I will have to try something slimline ;-)

Ciao

Isn't the hood 48mm? The 35/1.8 manages to have both a 43mm thread and a 48mm thread.

I just measured the threads of my 35/1.8 and it the outer one is 48mm, while the inner one is 43mm. The original hood for the 35/1.8 clips into the 48mm threads.

Step up ring is a good idea. I have a vintage Heliopan 48mm filter on my 85/2, but it does not fit on the 35/1.8 because the 43mm threads get in the way.

I don't use a Nikon hood as I don't want to lose it...I use a generic 49mm hood (heavystar on ebay I believe.)

Tom's hood is valuable too, I wouldn't want to lose it either. 🙂

You could find an old 48mm lens and remove the glass. This would create a spacer ring that should allow enough room for the hood and a 48mm filter. Just a thought. I've never used a hood with 35/1.8 ...

Similarly, I use a generic "wide" 43mm screw-in hood from heavystar on my vintage 35/1.8 w-Nikkor. It is small & works fine w/a 43mm filter, though it does make it a little more difficult to access the aperture ring.
