Now, where can I get one?

After a year of searching, I recently found a clip-on hood for my black 8.5cm f2!

I think that might be a replacement (more recent) lens cap, Mark. Does if have any patent numbers marked on the inside surface?
Jon, the inside of my lens cap looks just like the pictures in Hacker's post- 48mm, Pat. Pending, Nippon Kogaku Japan. The hood that came with my 85/2 is the black snap-on type

Mark, I just found this in Rotoloni's latest book regarding lens caps for the 5cm f1.1. The earlier type is on the right and the later type is on the left. I don't remember ever seeing a 48mm lens cap of the later type on a 8.5cm f2 lens, but as your photo proves, they do exist!
P.S. I highly recommend Rotoloni's book for anyone interested in Nikon rangefinder bodies and/or Nikkor rangefinder lenses. It really is an informative, and well illustrated book! The best there is on the subject in any language.

Also consider the 105mm F/2.5 Nikkor in C mount. I have one for my IIa and it is a super lens. It's ofen easier and cheaper to find the 105mm than the 85mm.
