Nikkor-H.C. 1:2 5cm Nippon Tokyo: Your View

I was sent an early NKT 5cm f2 lens to work on. The front module is a little bit different from those that followed. The later ones have a flat rim that runs around the serated ring.

I'm referring to the 5cm F2. The glass looks the same, coating did change,

This is from the collapsible version:

In my opinion......the f2/50 "HC" is a must have for any Leica M8 owner......the early "Tokyo" version is slightly smoother/creamier than the later "Japan" lenses ~ but my 1957 era Chrome Click Stop version is one of the finest lens combos on Leica Digital, it outshines some of my older Leica lenses on the M8....it is a real "sleeper" lens.
(I even prefer it over the original Zeiss lens it was copied after...)

My single coat 50 2.0 Nikkor H makes really nice pics on my D700. So much so that I aquired a set of single coated lenses, 105 2.5 35 2.8 and a 24.

I must have been "weak" when I sold my Tokyo Nikkor 5cm recently. It is the time to reflect on 2009 and what we have done.
