I have an opportunity to purchase some really nice Nikon rangefinder equipment from a local collector/photographer. He has two 3.5/35s, two 135s and a 105 along with three SPs and two S2s.

He plans to put the gear on e-bay, but he's offered to give me first shot at a 35 and a S2. All the equipment is in absolutely pristine shape. What is a good price for a S2 and the 3.5/35?

Thanks,

Charlie

300 to 450 dollars for the chrome dial S2 body depending on shape and if it needs a cla in a bad way. The black dial body would bring in more money.
the 35mm f3.5 is from 150 to 270 dollars depending on condition . The higher end price would be more for the later black lens that takes the 43mm filter.

BTW, if your friend wants to sell the rest of the Nikon gear here, on our classifieds thru yourself, I am sure they would sell fast.

Nikon RF gear has not been selling for high prices on EBay lately. The prices are pretty flat. You'll see some very high "buy itnow" or high starting prices, but you'll also see that there are no bids on overpriced stuff.

FYI, the 35/3.5 Nikkor is an okay but not outstanding lens. A 50/1.4 or 50/2 would be a better fit with the S2 and are lens that continue to be highly regarded more than 50 years later.

Nikons are hot here at the moment. :)
I'm done.

yes, Frank is so right.
more threads now are devoted to RF Nikons than ever.
the Nikon S2 is now where the Canon P was a short time ago.

Thanks. The S2 is chrome and the f3.5 is black but I can't say if it's the late model. I'll suggest the RF classifieds to him.

For the moment:p

Hey everybody, Frank says he is done:rolleyes:   ...I know joe doesn't believe you:)

I agree with the prices above although near mint examples would be a little more, do take into consideration that these are internet prices being quoted here not what the stores would charge(like the ones Vince mentioned).

Joe, I was saying that I thought that Nikons being hot at the moment was not just a coincidence.

As in: Coincidence? I think not.

I was hoping to start a Contax RF craze by selling one of mine to Joe, but then he goes off on this Nikon tangent! :)

things will cool down eventually for the Nikon RF stuff and the latest fetish will be for Retinas and then later on, for Barnack Leicas and then back to the Canon P.
there was a neat Warner Bros. cartoon were Porky Pig gets a hotel room and calls the desk, manned by Daffy Duck, to complain to Daffy about having a mouse in his room... this reminds me of that.
