I was wondering if our NIkkor experts could answer a couple of questions for me.
1. WHat are the differences between 85/2 black and chrome lenses? I know chrome one is heavier/larger, but by how much? Same formula? Same focus throw? , I'd like to know me details.
2. Does anyone know about a Nikkor LTM 50/1.5? Not 1.4! I came across a 5cm/1.5 and wonder how it is different from the 1.4 version?
Thanks in advance

There are different versions of the chrome 85/2. Over the years it lost weight. Also, the black 85/2 comes in different finishings (course vs. fine focus ring knurl, for example) and different weights. Therefore, it's hard to tell the exact difference. Apparently only the fine focus knurling exists in LTM. I've handled maybe 5 chrome ones and a single black one that I still own. I would think the black one is maybe 30% lighter or so. If you search, there are some weight measurements in some old threads.
The Nikkor 50/1.5 is very rare, the predecessor to the 1.4, a collector's item and usually expensive. It was built between '49 and '50. Rotoloni mentions production numbers of around 1000, with about half in LTM.
I do have a 1.4 Tokyo version built in the year after the 1.5, and think it's bokeh is better than from the later Japan version. If that helps.
The 1.5 is so rare that I haven't seen sample photos shot with it yet.
Best,
Roland.

Just to add to what Roland wrote, the optical formula, focus throw, and size are unchanged throught the versions. Black versions with the fine focus knurling exist in LTM, Nikon S-mount, and Contax C-mount, but the final black version with coarser knurling is only found in Nikon S-mount and Contax C-mount. The final version is actually the lightest version, so a shame none were made in LTM.
As for the Nikkor-S 5cm f1.5, yeah very rare indeed. There's an S-mount version mounted on a Nikon M currently on offer on the Yahoo Japan auctions here for 800,000 yen (over USD$8,000). Overpriced in the current market, but you get the idea.

My understanding is that the 50/1.5 is more of a direct copy of the Carl Zeiss Jena version (pre-WWII) 50/1.5 Sonnar for the Contax RFs.

NIKON KIU
Did you say Nippon Kogaku
The 5cm f1.5 only stops down to f11
I had one in Nikon S mount, It's softer than the 1.4
