The 50mm viewfinder
yep, along with the unique rear lens cap which housed the 50mm finder.

Where can I learn more about the missing VF? Why would you need a 50mm VF when (nearly?) every LTM camera has 50mm frame lines?

Ahh, that makes sense. I Googled for info on that and a photo but couldn’t find anything. Thanks! The lens is so big that it partially blocks the viewfinder. The same reason the Canon 50/0.95 was used with a viewfinder mounted on top of camera
For those wanting more in
ah nope, when produced in the 1950's almost no LTM camera had a 50mm frameline, about 99% didn't have framelines at that time.
For those wanting more info on this lens and all the other Rangefinder Nikkors buy Bob Rotoloni's spectacularly great
THE COMPLETE NIKON RANGEFINDER SYSTEM.
The Nikon 50mm viewfinder is extremely hard to find and has sold for very high prices.
