Nikon's first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera may be discontinued, but the system had a lot going for it - small size, very fast AF and excellent colour, to name a few. It was let down by bad marketing and pricing, and - at least on the Nikon 1 V1 - a UI that put some settings into menus rather than direct controls.
Use this thread to share your pictures taken with Nikon 1 system cameras and lenses. Pictures taken with the 32mm f/1.2 would be welcome.

What I liked about the original Nikon 1 V1 was its film-like rendering in both bw and colour.

Lynn, thanks for starting this thread. I loved a lot of what the Nikon 1 system had to offer. As you've said, the focus speed was superb... and the color produced. And I had a great time using the Nikon adapter that allowed use of F-mount lenses. An AF 50/1.8 mounted on the little V3 was a killer kit for photographing field sports.
I'll post some images here in the next couple of days.

I really should use mine more often... Its been a shelf sitter for a few years, mostly. Come to think of it, I have an airplane trip next weekend and I really need to pack light. The N1 might be ideal.
I think I've shot this car with every camera I own. Here it is with my Nikon 1 J3 and 10-30 kit lens, four or five years ago.

Here's the J3 with a Fotodiox adapter and Nikon S-mount 13.5cm/f3.5 rangefinder lens. Sounds like a neat idea eh? Unfortunately the adapter won't allow focusing to infinity and thus I am stuck having a very narrow range of focus. And razor-thin DOF.

Hey Lynn,
You were asking for some photos with the Nikon 1 32mm f1.2 lens. It's a fantastic lens, when it works. Used the Nikon 1 V2 on assignments for a couple of years(fantastic size and form factor), until one day, in the middle of an event, the 32mm's Aperture Control Unit went belly up, locking up the lens. My 18.5mm did the same thing, so the system got put on the back burner. But when it worked, it made really nice images.

"Outdoor Charity Concert for Chicago Homeless" Nikon 1 V2 w/32mm f1.2 lens
"BLM Arrest" Nikon 1 V2 w/30-110mm lens
And since you always post such beautiful beach pics from down under, I thought I'd share a pic of the type of weather we get so often up here in the frozen north.

getting ready to deploy my new acquisition....70-300 vr on the Nikon 1 V1. I may also try Gigapixel AI.
going to Hawaii next month with the Nikon 1 and the VR...but also a film camera. Between a Pentax ME Super or a Canon IIB. No M cameras...too expensive to hang around my neck in Hawaii.

Nikon made a really nice underwater housing for the original Nikon 1 J1 with the 10-30 zoom. Here are a couple examples at about 30 feet down in a murky lake.

Firmware update link
Lynn
Thank you very much for streamlining my search. After having read instructions...confess a bit nervous. Simultaneous A and B firmware updates. If it doesnt go well than it could be hard to restore or get Nikon support to help. I guess I am paranoid, although the update includes an important enhancement of the 70-300 VR function.
has anyone used the Gigapixel AI or Topaz Denoising family of enhancements using the Nikon 1 system?

I just updated mine recently and as long as you read and follow the instructions, youll be fine. Believe me, if I can do it, you can do it!

So happy to get a confidence raiser. I am very appreciative and you will be the first one I call. But aren't you the gent who screwed up his Argus while turning a screw the wrong way? Hope I am mistaken.

it's a very good omen for me that you have already reached your monthly quota.
I would be happy to hear from some other Nikon 1 cameras (other than V1), their possible virtues over the V1. I need to eliminate some GAS symptoms.

I bought the AW version after discovering it was used by the divers in the Australian Navy.
Mine has never been underwater but has been to Ningaloo reef with that in mind.
As an old Nikonos user when sailing dinghies (tied to the mast with a long line, just in case).
The Aw seemed perfect. Results in air were terrific just need to get it out and submerse it, but winter's coming on and I don't like cold water except in Scotch.
Cheers
