Just purchased a very nice used copy of the lens for my FM3A. Focus is a dream and its a sharper lens than I initially thought it would be. ;) Bokeh is also very nice. Just looking for any other comments or thoughts on this spectacular Nikon MF lens.

Thanks

I have had one of these for years. I use it frequently and love it. Very sharp, even wide open.

It's a fantastic lens. I have it's little brother, the 105/2.5, but I see tons of great work from people on the Manual Focus Nikon Glass thread at fredmiranda using both. You've got a great lens and all I can say is post some pictures from it. Pair it with a 35/1.4 AI-S and there isn't a much better fast two lens kit for Nikons.

I had one.

Solid OoF rendering, sharp enough. Rather large and I didn't need the slower speed so I sold it to pay my tax bill last year and kept my Viv 90/2.5 macro.

I agree that focusing is very easy with the lens. It may lose out to other lenses on low level detail but wide open contrast is very high.

A great lens and has a very nice "thumbprint" or style. I have one that I picked up NOS and it has produced excellent results at any F=stop. I find it to be easy to hold as it balances well in my hand....could it be lighter, maybe. But you want to see some magic put it on a D7000 and now watch things happen. That F1.8 wide open and your using the "center" cut of the image circle, it is a stunner.

I had and loved the 105/2.5AIS and sold it when I went digital. Stupid !

Beautiful lens.

I am now thinking about a used 85/2.0AIS (manual focus) for my APS digital camera. Missed one that sold yesterday at KEH.
