Nikon 35ti won't load film

I was about to purchase a Nikon 35ti today, but when I tried loading film into it, the film wouldn't load. The film door closes, though it seems very tight. But the film doesn't load or advance.

I noticed that after attempting to load it, the camera had torn some sprocket holes, and there were indentations on the film leader.

Any ideas? Otherwise it's in great shape, but I'm not going to buy it if I can't get this resolved.

Stay clear of it. I have one that started doing double exposures, sent it off to Nikon and they said it needed a new shutter but they no longer have spare parts.
This was around eight years ago.

So you mean that the motor is working and tries to pull the film from the canister?
