I'm heading this night to Grenoble for 2 days for work.
Since I'm after Nikon 5000ED (or V ED) scanner or Summilux 50mm ASPH, do you know any places there to check for these (or one of these ?) For lens I'm talking about reliable places selling used gear of course.

Thanks.

Compared to an online purchase, I don't think you will find a competitive store, Alex, in particular if you fly in via Lyon.

There might be something in Geneva, but I'm guessing you are not flying in via CH ?

Thanks.
Well, European prices are indeed something I'm aware about, but then I thought perhaps by the chance there might be some case to check it out.
Yes, indeed I'm flying through Geneva but there is only a short connection to continue to Lyon when I'm supposed to rent a car to drive to Grenoble.

The drive from Geneva to Grenoble is not too bad, and quite scenic, so you could do that too. I once had to come back via Geneva due to strike in Lyon. The drive took like 2h or so. Watch for radars in CH, there are lots of speed traps :)

The most regarded photo store in Geneva seems to be http://www.photo-hall.ch, although I haven't used it myself. If you buy something there make sure you get the tax (8%?) back when you export it.

When I bought my Nikon 5000ED, it was only available in few stores in the US. I got it via http://www.abesofmaine.com, and can recommend them.

Cheers,

Roland.

Well, I meant actually having the connection in Geneva for flight to Lyon and then from Lyon renting the car to Grenoble, but thanks anyway for the tip on speed traps...

Yes, I'm aware that Nikon can be had cheaper in US, however its out of stock in B&H and back ordered in Abes of Maine. Besides, I just though bringing one in person would avoid VAT that I'll be forced to pay should I bring it by freight.
