I don't mind the motor - the fact the meter draws from the motors power pack also results in less "battery death". I find the Md4 kind of balances the package - and it does have a nice "burp" to it when fired'
Shot with another F3/Md4 combo and the voigtlaner Ultron 40mm f2.0 and the Proxar lens that comes with it. Only problem with the F3's tend to be the LCD's in the finder ceasing to function. I have one with a dead LCD screen (AE still works) and the other two work fine.

Just bought a Nikon 105mm f2.0 DC (defocus control) lens from Bob Nancarrow from the RF classifieds. Curiousity about the defocus control caused me to get it, as I already have 3 superb lenses close to that focal length -- OM Zuiko 90mm f2.0, OM Zuiko 100mm f2.0, and Vivitar Series 1 90mm f2.5 (OM Mount). This Nikon lens seems to get pretty universal reviews as one of Nikon's best lenses, and the ability to soften the bokeh with the defocus control is intriguing. It should go well with my Nikon FM3A and MD12 motor drive. I figure if I don't like it (unlikely) I can probably sell it for at least close to what I paid for it. But that sounds awfully like a GAS rationalization -- even to me!

Have a F2, close to mint, FE2, and an early Nikormat which is my fav. They all languish in favor of one M6 I still have but mostly I use my Digital Leica Ms and Nikons. Now that I finally found some Nikons that are not worn to pieces, I can say say they are better machines than Pentax, Yashica, Minolta, etc, the whole lot of them even when they were new.

If you ever decide to go digital, the Nikon is a wonderful follow on and they function smoothly and precisely. Skip the consumer grade and Dx. D800 is one fantastic machine.

My '64 chrome F plain-prism returned from the shop a week and some back. Working beautifully now. I really must fit a lens and run some film through it. 🙂

I think the clip-on accessory selenium meter actually works too!

I like your cameras. They're beat up. You use them, they don't sit on a shelf. I love the Nikons too, as well as the Nikkormats. You can shoot Leica R lenses w/ a $20 lens mount change on them too.

My EM w/ a Leica R 90 Elmarit. This lens look like a factory lens on my Nikkormat FT2.

So I went to an estate sale once: the kind that they have in an uninhabited store on a shopping strip... no cameras... until I realized there was a "treasure room" in the back. Black F photomic Tn, $50 with 50 1.4, 28 f2 ai'd $25 35 f2 ai'd $25 and a 55 micro 105 sonnar all $25 and unused in their bubbles.... it was like being drunk without the hangover.

My name is Dan, and I too am a Nikon addict.

Nikon F w prism black with NOS soft case
Nikormat black with soft case
Nikon F3hp with motor drive
15 5.6, 50 1.4 non ai, 50 1.4 ai, 24 2.8 non ai, 105 2.5 with black knurl ai'd, 35mm 1.4 ais, 35mm pc, 104 4.0 micro, and a bunch of odds and ends.

I had more goodies, but in a fit of cleaning house got rid of them, and am now buying some back 🙂 That's an addict!

Want list: 45 pancake, 20mm 2.8 and/or 20 3.5 ud, 28 ais, 1000mm f/11, 50-300 ED, nice F2.

When I was 22 and worked at a camera store in NYC I had the Nikon rep get me the new Nikon F2 Titanium. Paid about $500. About 17 years ago sold it for $1,500 with motor drive. Miss that one.

But my go to camera is my Rolleiflex 2.8f.

I've had this ol' guy since 1995.

Funny seeing the first post in this thread, with the well-weathered F2 on top. Back when I was looking for an F2, Helix Camera in downtown Chicago had a few of them which had been traded in by one of the newspapers. They were mostly bare metal! I probably should have bought one just for the patina on it. But then this one came along...

About a year ago I began shooting with my Dad's 1978 Black FE and 50/1.4. I've carried it with me every day, and begun developing film for the first time in my life at age 40. I soon added a 105/2.5 and 35/2.8, and a brassy black FM. I love the size and feel of them. I briefly had a chrome FE which I passed on to a friend. I'd like to collect a bunch more when finances permit, but one rule, they must be black.
