Nikon AIS lens repair

Just a bump to this old thread. I need to send a 180mm f2.8 ais and a 300 4.5 edif for cleaning - stiff f-stop ring, etc. I know this thread is almost five years old, so any updated suggestions appreciated. I did use one of the repair persons listed for my 135 2.0 and it's still working well, but I think it went to a repair person who has since either died or retired. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried Nikon, and each time I got the lens back with a "we don't have parts anymore" note. That applied to an 80-200 f4.0, a 24 f2.0, and a 135 f2.0, so I've pretty well given up on them. I will call or email some of the suggested repair services and see what they say.

Nikon or one of the listed Official Listed Nikon repair stations on the Nikon site. Asking because I've had terrible responses from Nikon but the listed repair sites always fix my problem for a reasonable cost and quick service.

While I have nothing against independent repair shops I can't understand why one wouldn't use an Authorized repair shop.

APS did a 300 4.5 edit for me about seven years ago, they do really nice work, at a good price, with good turn around time. They do a lot of my Nikon gear and I've been real happy with the results.

Best,

Full agreement with APS/Morton Grove.
I have sent in 3 or 4 lenses and an F-3.
I had a minor issue with 1 lens they serviced.
after an email exchange (1 cycle) they fixed it!

I am a very pleased customer.
