I have the option of getting a nikon coolscan iii LS30 for a great price however i understand the software issues with windows 10 and have found a way awround them however when it comes to getting a SCSI adapter card I know the scanner takes 50 PIN, what pin type does it take to get it to an adapter card?

Kind regards,
Jake

try to get a cooscan IV for not much of money I guess; but then you have more common USB interface. hassle free.

Bit late for that, I took the LS30 at a price i couldnt refuse! Ordered a PCIE to PCI adapter then a PCI to 50 Pin SCSI adapter , im just wondering whats my options with getting the old software to run

Vuescan? Works well for my Coolscan (though mine is a IV)

Many folks here would recommend Vuescan.
I myself is a loyal fan of Nikon Scan software, it’s free and fully supports the machine.
I use it with my Windows 7 PC

Right, Ive got the scsi adapter installed drivers are good (although unsigned from the internet) and ive got Nikon scan running in a Virtual windows Xp machine (I cant afford Vuescan at the moment) . Scanner has arrived but one end on the cable is a different type of 50 pin ordered an adapter. Once its up and running ill make a guide on how to get a coolscan iii running.

Well I got it working, will share some scans later. Im blown away by the quality while the hasselblad flextoght i was used to using at university has better dynamic range and resolution this thing is shap and gives the the best colours ive ever seen out of a scanner pretty much straight away. Best £80 quid ive ever spent
