Is there an alternative to the Nikon Coolscan 9000 scanner. I am interested in being able to scan MF and LF negatives and the Coolscan looks like the best option. It's hard to find and when I find it even used ones are expensive. Is there anything better in the same price range?

i didnt know the 9000 can scan LF negs.
i dont think so though.

there was a thread about the Epson V500
apparently, users have claim it gives very good scans.
definitely much cheaper.
something you could consider

hi mark.. ho seh boh!!!

Nope, the CS 9000 (and 8000) does not scan LF negs(4x5, 5x7, etc)

the V500 is a good alternative, or if u want a flatbed on steriods, try the V700 or V750 (if you wanna try wet scanning)

Quite good actually, especially if you're not going to print beyond 11x17 from home.

there's also the Imacons..... :D

It scans MF sizes and from all accounts it does a pretty good job of it. The downside is availability, or the lack of.

Imacon

The Epson Perfection V500 does not to Large Format. 35mm and Mf. The V700 does large and the V750 does large wet.

V500... $200 on the Epson site
V700... $475 approx and up
