I'm pretty sure my Nikon Coolscan V is on its way out, its lasted well probably had it a good 10 years plus. I would buy another one if they were still supported by Nikon but they feel like old technology now so i'm on the look out for a new scanner probably go for a plustek maybe 8200i se or if I see one in the uk cheap maybe a Pakon. But tonight I decided to try my Nikon Df with 55mm macro just as a bit of an experiment, set up was very quick so didn't expect much but I'm quite pleased, colours are a bit off.

Can't fault that, I "scan" my 6x6 negs with a camera using a BEOON.

There's a Coolscan in the classifieds at the moment.

Hues are simple to remedy if you use raw on your Df.

You could make sure a the film/transparency is lit such that light from a single source dominates. Then you could shoot a grey card using the the light source you choose for Df scans. This will give you the appropriate color temperature parameters to save as a user defined preset.

After that you should be good (assuming the light source does not change).

Ah yes forgot about shooting a grey card, but what about the base colour?
On a slightly different note decided today to take a trip up the attic found and old XP pc, SCSI card, early copy of vuescan and a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual which must be the best part of 25 years old!
Its a lot better than I remember!
