I have been trying to get my prosumer D series collection completed.
I have D40x, D50, D60, D70 and today I got D100
I am missing D80 and D90
Anyway, here is the D100 I bought for $45

Kinda like a shot in the dark, since it was untested. BUt I thought, only a pro would store it without a battery and covered by a body cap.

So, wish me luck, I will keep you all informed of what happens when I get the camera and test it.

Sweet buy. I got an N80 a while back because none of my good Nikon film bodies can use my 85/1.4G 🙂bang: Nikon and your devilish plans to screw consumers/film users)

What else would NIKON KIU do?

I like to try these old things and right now, the price is reasonable, if you have time to shop! I shoot cars at work with the D70 for on-line listings. Wife shoots the D50, I use the D60/D40 for shooting Sport Hobbies...
Why not try another old beast?
You know, back in the day, some of these were highly regarded Digi SLRs.

My foto interests have changed a little, I am almost completely out of film... I am thinking of reducing the herd a bit too.

You get what you pay for!

You get what you pay for!

As the old adage goes, you get what you pay for!
Camera arrived yesterday, I installed a battery and a card and viola the camera powered up!
But that was the good news, the camera has full shutter and speed range and all top controls are working, you can even take pictures using all provided settings... but the rear LCD and the rear controls are not working! That's the bad news. No picture review or menu controls, etc...

I guess it's good for a back-up or as a student camera.

This is why you never trust "untested" stuff on eBay. Believe me, it was tested and they knew it did not work, otherwise they would have sold it as working and tried to make more money off of it.

There was a D100 with one of the Nikon kit lens for $60 at our local camera swap meet last Sunday. It was offered by a local part time dealer with the standard proviso that you could take it around the swap meet and shoot with it as long as you wanted to try it out.

I am sure you could have bought it for $45 towards the end of the day. I know the dealer well and he will end up giving it to some photo student.

But then our quarterly swap meets are mostly a fun social occasion. By the afternoon anything less than $15-20 becomes a freebie to any friend that thinks they can use it.
