Hap, I've been using all D lenses on my D610 and have had no issues, except that it is very easy to bump the AF/MF button on the 80-200/2.8D, or grab it instead of whichever control ring one is going for. But that's not the same issue as with your earlier version. A Kirk collar would help immensely, especially if you pair the lens with a monopod. My version has a collar, but I've used the lens handheld and still got good performance out of it.
The lens I use on it most of the time is the 28-105/3.5-4.5D, a nice range for everyday use. I do have the 24-120/3.5-5.6D "Street Sweeper" but the G version is reported to be optically better. I also use the 24/2.8D (which mainly resides in my D300s bag to act as a 36mm), the 50/1.8D, and the 60/2.8D Micro.
They are for the most part excellent lenses, and can be had at decent prices in the used market.

I have a D700 and not D750. My camera may have broken contact pins for the card reader. I wonder who would be a good choice for inspection & repair.

I think somebody suggested APS. you can call Nikon....I did before buying the D750. They answered right away and were helpful. Maybe they are scared.
