Nikon DF and Zeiss lenses

Did I understand right that the DF will prevent you from using the aperture ring if the lens supports CPU control? So Zeiss ZF you can use the aperture ring, but Zeiss ZF.2 you cannot?

Seems a bit strange, not sure if I'm misunderstanding.

Don't all Nikon DSLRs do that? I certainly remember getting a FEE error from the D3 and D800 whenever I tried to set the aperture directly on a AF lens...

Yes. You change the aperture from the 2nd command dial for a chipped (ZF.2) lens.

With D700 you can set up the camera to use the aperture ring instead the controls on the body. I would guess, Df will do the same thing. Why not.

I use the aperture ring on my D2x after having to input the particular lens into memory.
