Nikon DF

Just noticed a couple of things in the sixth video: i) That knob on the left side of the camera is looking more and more like a rewind crank; ii) Listening to the sound of the camera's shutter 'click' (if that's indeed the actual sound of the camera), I don't hear a sound of an 'advance' following the 'click'.

So just how 'hybrid' is this camera??? Wishful thinking of course, but wouldn't it be amazing if......

If the DF stands for digital fusion as rumoured I'm intrigued as to the 'fusion' part.

Fusion of what ... old and new?

😱😱😱 I just watched it about 4 times. The transition at the end is very interesting.

6th Video here.

I'll clutch along side him....

But seriously, would Nikon make a Leica R DMR? I doubt it but I hope I'm WRONG.

Well ... this is the company that spent a motza making (re-making) a 50s rangefinder just to prove they could!

I suppose anything is possible? 🙂

I checked out of the craziness for a few days, but it seems that in all the released videos we've not seen any feature with certainty other than there's a shutter wheel on top of the camera.

As far as I can see it's the detail they've emphasized the most, including, what I hope and pray is amplified sound of it's movement. Even my clunky ZI shutter wheel quieter!

I hope there's lot's more that a shutter wheel for those of us who've built our own castles in the air on Nikon's vague promise of "pure photography".

DF = Digital F

This is what Nikon should have made in 2009 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the F, the greatest SLR system of all times.

I don't think it be film / digital, film bodies are so inexpensive now that there would be no point in doing so.

More likely film-like controls on a digital body.

The rewind knob idea isn't new, the Epson / Voigtlander RD-1 uses the rewind knob to review photos on the LCD.

If it simplifies controls, eliminates long menus, takes legacy glass, and is weather proof and sturdy, it will sell.

To be more precise: Used Film bodies. It's just too expensive to make a new film body compared to a DSLR now due to the lack of economies of scale.

From the end of the 6th video:
"Now every frame is meaningful again"

The unspoken yearning of digital photographers everywhere.
