Nikon DF

Cut it anyway you like but IMO, these Canons look like the ******* sons of Quasimodo; a lumpen, melting whale of polycarbonate with a plethora of buttons and menus-no thanks.

Yes I have to agree except for the polycarbonate, no polycarbonate on a 1dx. The Nikons have always looked nicer in the DSLR world but once you start using the Canons you realise how well designed they are for work use, not my first choice for photographing my kids in the park on a sunday afternoon!

Typical RFF... Oh! boy this one looks like it's going to be good...I'm excited! Then when the product leaks out photos almost everyone finds fault or calls it crap, while others say it's a huge disapointment.🙄 I knew this was going to happen. Myself, I'm no Nikon fan boy, but I think as for a retro design digital Nikon, they did a good job.🙂

I'm sure over at Canon the brass are arguing right now, Are we going to do a retro A series FD, perhaps even an F-1, Maybe a digital T-90 clone? or an early eos series Canon. 😀

If, and only if, "work" means "eye glued to the finder all day for all-auto action with manual overrides". For quite some time I had the displeasure to use a Canon 5D (then the only FF SLR with the client required specifications) for architectural work. A truly nasty tripod camera, and that one was supposed to be the "slow" camera from their FF lineup.

If Canon did make a FF that echos the Canon 7... and the size is close also...
Canon could sell a ton...albeit with a new FF Mirrorless set of lenses at start up...

Canon RF7d FF body with built-in RF Style EVF ala Panny GX7 or Fuji
But, the body can't be smaller than the Canon 7, being a FF, the lenses will be larger (The NEX looks so awkward with larger lenses)

24-85 f/3.5-4.5 kit zoom
70-210 f/4.5-5.6 kit zoom
24mm f/2.5
28mm f/2.5
35mm f/2
50mm f/2

As a Start-up sable (not real fast, but fast enough to keep the price down.

Those lenses would give a good selection for Zoomers, and Primers.
Faster primes can come later, after the camera takes hold.

I regress though...

A Canon F1n Digital retro may work well... or a Canon A1 Retro Digital...

Now that Nikon has "Their" Retro DSLR....
Canon's Turn....... 😛

Nikon really wimped out here. My guess is that it started out as a simple digital version of the FM or F3, but by the time it got through all the committees it ended up as this -- one of their normal DSLRs with a few more physical controls and a retro design slapped on the top plate. It looks like a fiddly DSRL with a thin veneer of retro. No thanks.
