Nikon F slow shutter problem

I have a Nikon F that hangs at 1/8s shutter speed setting

Curiously all other speeds work. Is this a common problem?

To be honest I rarely use that speed setting so I won't miss much but just interested to know if it is a weak point considering these were built like tanks

Very common problem, and very easy to fix. The slow speed governor just needs cleaning and relubing.

1/15 and 1/8 hangs as they are in the changeover part of speed. its easier to fix 1/8 IF the only problem is the positioning of the retarder if not then somebody ruined the the lever and it needs to be adjusted. a very annoying process
