I've been working on a project F2 that was jammed and needed some new film-advance parts... It's been running well, but recently the shutter has started intermittent capping... I'm losing four to 8 frames per roll. I have the mirror box out, and I'm wondering what the preferred CLA method is on these guys... do I need to disassemble further from here? Should these shutters just be cleaned, or also lubricated?

Clean all the shutter rollers shafts with lighter fluid typically applied with a syringe and see what happens afterwards.

If this doesn't solve the problem (my guess is it will), it'll be time for an adjustment of the shutter brake and rollers shafts tension. But this must be done following the original Nikon repair manual and with the help of a trusted shutter speeds tester.

Thank you very much! I'm blushing.

Whenever I go out on a job-shoot, I try to carry an F2 or an F3 with me... Mostly because I love shooting them, but I've noticed that people are much more at ease around a camera that doesn't look like a high-tech weapon... the camera kind of disappears into the interaction.
