Hey all,

Just took possession of a lovely Nikon F2a in really nice condition advertised as working perfectly.

The only thing is that the mirror seems to flop around in the mirror box. Usually the mirror in an SLR stays down even if you turn the camera body upside down, but in this one it flaps with gravity.

Any ideas anyone? I'm hoping I don't have to return it and it's something simple I've missed.

If you got a fair deal, send it off to Sover for a full CLA.

Worth every penny IMHO

I've considered this as I've heard Sover is amazing, but this was supposed to serve as my main 35mm camera and at the moment his wait list is supposedly 6-12 months long.

There should be multiple camera repair shops that could fix that problem. But, you should call them and describe the problem in case the fix would involve parts they might not have.

You could try it yourself. Accessing the mirror box is very easy and reattaching the reflex spring is as well. If the spring is broken you'll need the new part but it is probably just disconnected from one side.

Hey Phil,

What’s the process for accessing the mirror box involve? I’m fairly technically proficient so I might give it a crack if it’s not too involved. Where abouts is the reflex spring located?
