And here’s that picture of the F2 Titan with the Noct. Interestingly, the strap that comes with the Titan is different from any stock Nikon F or F2 strap I had ever seen before. Nicer, softer thicker leather with a raised pebble grain to, I’m guessing, match the textured finish on the body.
I feel very fortunate to have acquired this combo, lens and body at almost the same time, while realizing it’s a little over the top. Not going to be a shelf queen.

Thanks, Phil. I imagine there will be some trial and error involved. The F2 I recently bought came with an E screen, have installed an F2 “A” screen which I already had and works better for me. I am, and should be, happy with that, but intending to try an F4 screen just to compare.
I’m also always juggling diopters and glasses as well in the mix. I can use a -3 diopter with my glasses on top of my head, or a +0 diopter with my glasses on which is a tiny bit better, but then my Rx changes……
The screens are just another thing in the mix that needs to be calibrated, but the F2 100% vf is always nice regardless
If you add a metered finder, then you have yet another variable in the mix. Adding a screen from F3 or F4 causes the meter to read incorrectly and an exposure compensation needs to be figured by changing the ISO setting. Not that you'll add a meter to that fantastic camera, it's just one more thing to think about. I just ordered a B screen from my F2. I don't mind the focusing aids but I want to work on focusing off the center axis, so recomposing doesn't add a focusing error.

The F4 screens, or so-called "red dot" late F3 screens (which are 100% identical, optics wise) are brighter than the F/F2/F3 screens but less bright than the F6 screens. I'd say that they are on par with the K2/E2/B2 screens of the FM2/FE2/FA cameras, while the F6 screens are as bright as the K3/E3/B3 screens for the FM3A, and the FF DSLR screens.
Like you, I am concerned with too bright screens which cause some accurate focusing problems with very fast lenses or even f/2 lenses, right. Like Larry, I have to keep my glasses on all the time (but I just cannot think of using negative diopter eyepieces because of a very strong astigmatism). I didn't find the F4 or "red dot" F3 screens to be in this category of screens which are so bright that even what is not in focus tends to show as in focus in the viewfinder.
The Nikon "R" screen is a mix of the "A" and "E" screens - just a breeze for all around photography. The split image is here, so that you can rely on it at any time if you have some doubts about focusing, while you generally forget about it and take benefit from the grid for your composition. And no pesky microprisms circle.

No, won’t be adding a metered prism to that camera
(Have an F2AS for that) so won’t be worried about metering and can get whatever screen seems to work the best for me without worrying about the metering. Just also coincidentally ordered a B screen as never tried one.

The B screen is an A screen without the split image, or an E screen without the grid. Same Fresnel pattern.

Not a Titan, but a fine shooter nevertheless. Fully serviced by Mr. Wong last year.
I paired it with a couple of nikkors: a 35mm f2 and a 85mm 1.8, both pre-ai, which are a perfect match for the camera. Don't need anything else.
