Not on mine. Mine is several years old still looks like new. Never heard it happen to an F6.

Get rubbing alcohol and do well all sticky parts. Then make sure it does not get stored in humid environments and in plastic bags.

I don't know about the F6 but I have an N80 that was sticky. I cleaned it with alcohol and coated it with Armor All conditioner. It's doing fine now.

My F100 is sticky but my F6 is perfect. Both were bought second-hand some three or four years ago, and I imagine that they're both quite old.
The F6 doesn't feel as though it's about to go sticky either. In fact, it gives me the impression, just from its feel, that it's made of the sort of material that won't ever go sticky.
If you're thinking of buying an F6 I shouldn't worry about the rubber perishing, it's very unlikely.

I first tried the Alcohol/ArmorAll treatment a few months ago on an Olympus OMPC, which seemed to work fine, but I notice it is getting icky again.
On my N90s, I did the alcohol cleaning, with a light coating of ArmorAll, but it didn't work good enough. So I tried to clean it again with the alcohol, and wound up removing some of the coating. So I'm going all-in, and stripping what's left of the coating.
For an F100 I recently purchased on RFF, after the cleaning, I made sure to apply a thick coat of the ArmorAll, and let it dry for a few days. That seems to be the trick, getting enough on the surface to penetrate.

Try xylene if you can find it. I have used it a lot of sticky deteriorated plastic

Yes. The small spray bottle will be enough to purchase, as it goes a long way.

I like the alcohol, but would avoid coating any camera with anything as slippery as Armor All.

The Armor All Conditioner I used was not even slightly slippery. I'm not at home but I'll look for the specific product name when I am home.
Back home and the product is no where to be found. I must have used it up.

The Armor All products I have used have a warning about getting any on steering wheels on cars, or rims on bicycles.

The protectant takes off paint. I can vouch for the fact it removes color from vinyl decals on bikes. 😱

A look at the spray bottle I got says "Original Protectant", and the back has the warnings about not getting it on control surfaces such as the steering wheel or floor pedals.
After a week and a half since the application, it's not slick at all. The film door feels nice and grippy just like the other patches on the camera (which I don't understand why it's just the film door affected by the degradation).
The alcohol cleaning will only remove any surface substance that has oozed from the interior of the covering, but it will still be sticky afterwards.
Like I said, I put the ArmorAll on nice and thick this time, and that seems to be the secret. And it's a lot easier to apply if you take the door off the camera.

Getting back to the original subject of this thread, the Nikon F6 does NOT appear to be prone to the sticky rubber problem like the F100. I have 2 F6 bodies and they are not sticky in any way. The rubber on the F6 is of very high quality -- better feeling than the D750 and much better quality than the F100. Having handled the newer Nikon DSLRs (D750, D810, etc.), IMHO the F6 feels better in the hand and has a better viewfinder than any of them.
The only real room for improvement of the F6 (which probably will never happen) is an upgrading of the AF system (which is already very good BTW, but not as good as the D750 for action shots) and an upgrade to allow it to have full functionality with the latest Nikon electronic aperture lenses. The latter upgrade possibly could be addressed with a future firmware upgrade, but I am not overly optimistic about this.

How is it not fully functional with the latest Nikon lenses? My F100 will do VR with the 70-200 f2.8, and works perfectly fine with G lenses. I'm assuming the F6 is the same in that respect.
