Nikon F6

I've considered selling my F6 ( jonmanjiros I think ), because I have the F100 and I will never use the full features on the F6. That said, and reading this thread I reconsider! As for F6/D700, had both at the same time. Both feel the same, look similar, but differ, mainly AF. The F6 is similar to the D2H in AF and tracking ability, but I think the D700 is faster to acquire focus, compared to the D2Hs I owned, I'd assume the D700 has faster AF than the F6. Oh one other thing, the mirror slap on the F6 is loud.

I've never felt a need to 'baby' any camera - especially not the F6. And resale value? I couldn't give a hoot. Cameras are for using, not molly coddling.

Times are horrible, so I cut debts, the renewals from sites and magazines went down the tubes (with exception of Polka Magazine).

I must say that if one wants a F6 and lacks the funds the best bet is the F4. All knobs, all lens fit and it can be small or bigger depending on your mood (and back).
Otherwise get the F6 fast before she runs out of production (prices will climb... and drop in some years... hopefully).

Mine is getting foggy everyday.
We getting deep CUTS on everything, companies are dumping people on streets. Taxes are up to +50% of One's income.
If this keeps going an entire population will have to learn to live with 1€ a day in less than 10 years.
I'm moving to Africa for sure, the Sun looks brighter there.
 
I love all of the F cameras, and have owned all of the different models over the years. Since I like manual, no-battery cameras, I now shoot an F (first model). But if I wanted an auto-focus camera for some odd reason, I would probably go with the F100. It is similar in form to the D series cameras, but is much smaller and simpler. It has all the features you really need, and costs quite little. Here in Tokyo you can find decent examples for $100 to $200.
 
I have F6, L-screen and AIS lenses. No problems at all to focus, although at times it's easier to rely on the green dot than the little (compared to FM3A) split-prism diagonal line in the center. About F6 I like the opportunity to save every shot data and check them again anytime.
Not sure D700 is so much faster than F6 to focus ( I had it ), whereas I think it's more impressive for sure the F100, whose autofocus is like a dragster compared to F6 and D700 that are "smoother" and more silent.
 
I thought it would be in the F6 manual, but it says to refer to the instruction manual that comes with the focus screen.
Maybe contact Nikon if no-one else knows? Still a production camera. Or a shop like B&H as they have them in stock.

according to the instructions of the camera AND the screens - for the L-screen:


- Set the custom setting b6 to "Other"


- For nearly ALL lenses (only very few zooms need -0,5) no compensation is necessary
