My Nikon FE only works on M90 or B. All other speeds the mirror stays up.
When I put good batteries in it, the meter doesn't work, and the batteries (LR44 or 357) are draining very quickly.
I took the bottom plate off and all the wiring connections look good.
I cleaned the battery chamber.
I'd really like to get it working as it's in very nice condition.
Any ideas??

Since the FE's meter is activated by pulling out the film advance lever and touching the shutter release, I wonder if the electrical problem might be under the top plate?

Actually the meter works when the wind lever alone is away from the seated position . You aren't leaving it with the advance lever away from it's seated position are you ?

No. I'm not leaving it in the on position.
The battery check light isn't working and the batteries are draining FAST, so I guess there must be a short somewhere.
I'm thinking of just parting it out...focus screen, bottom plate, eyepiece, back door, etc.

Thanks for all your replies.
