Nikon F's are like peanuts

My Nikon "stash" - this is last year so some add'l prisms and I think one more body has been added - and a lens. Dont keep track of them that carefully - just grab one when needed.
There are couple of favorite lenses, 55f3.5 Micro-Nikkor, the 105f2.5 and also the Ultron 40mm f2.0 and the Voigtlander 58f1.4 (a Topcon replica).
The F also has the distinct advantage that you can use the Rf re-loadable cassettes in them.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me or do I see a Tn photomic finder mounted on a chrome F2 body? I think I remember hearing that was possible. The F photomic finders will mount on the F2 body, but the F2 photomic finders, though they would mount had no power source when mounted on the F body. I just never tried that nor saw it done before.
 
I just bought my fifth Nikon F. Just insane, I do NOT need five Nikon F's.

Okay, one is a parts body. Still that is four Nikon F's.

Three black, one chrome.

The F finders mount on the F2.

and the F2 finders will mount on the Nikon F. The nameplate has to come off. I remember reading that a Nikon specialist -was it Marty Forscher?- modified Nikon F bodies to power the F2 meters. I'm betting he put the battery under the serial number plate, rewind side of the camera.

I'm down to 8 Nikon F's. Still have 11 F2's. Just 5 F3's. One still in the box, SN 2M+. For when the SN19999xx F3HP wears out. and if the 1983 F3Af wears out.

The fitted cases are more difficult to find than the cameras. Especially the CH-11 for the F2 with DS servo motor.

You can stick the Photomic Tn on a F2 body. In this case it was because I had taken the f2 prism apart and was trying to stop it from rattling - needed some foam "padding". The Tn is dead anyway and just serves as prism - albeit a large one.
Yesterday we had a small (40 tables) swap meet here n Vancouver. usually there are plenty of F's around - in all shapes (wrecks to minty ones). I did not see a single one this time! Some battered F2's (already have two of those) and some rather worn F3's - but not a single F. It used to be the "standard" SLR to look for - maybe we have hyped it too much and they are getting in short supply!!!!!
 
Two Black Fs (both with plain prisms)
Two Chrome (one plain prism 64xxxx)e, one with black FTn)
Much preferred to the F2.

I bought the beat up 64xxxxx from KEH for $12 and rescued it with a Sover Wong service and the other chrome one is Minty and was $20 from KEH graded an inoperative but was easy to un jam and get working again by fiddling with the wind/shutter/rewind colar.

One black one from Reno Camera and the other from B&H photo...

Had and sold 5 F2 s and prefer the Fs, they just have more character...
 
I'll have to dig out the F36 with "Remo-Pak" and put on the Nikon F Photomic "Bullseye".

Had it converted to a motor, found some NOS motor plates a while back.
 
For years I resisted getting into Nikon rangefinders until 2010. I seem to be able to resist the lure of the Nikon F... even though I have handled a couple more than once... We'll see. In the meanwhile, I do enjoy these gear shots a lot. Keep 'em coming! 🙂
 
Have two of them: an early black eyelevel, and a very late black Apollo Photomic; sadly I sold my first F, a black Apollo eyelevel.
Bought one of Uli Koch's books, very good stuff !
Also love my other Nikons, surely my S2 !
 
I finally picked up my first F - a chrome with eyelevel prism, BGN from KEH for $150. Everything checks out so far, shutter speeds, film advance and I just cleaned out the focusing screen and prism. With the exception of an F2 (which I stupidly sold 6 months ago), that means I've got all of the F bodies covered. Now it's time to move on to Nikon RFs (I've already got an S and S2).

The reflex mirror is heavily scratched though - any idea how much a good repairman would charge to replace it?
