Nikon M Shutter Question

I’ve heard that Nikon used ball-bearings on the shutter shafts of some of their rangefinder cameras. Did this apply to the Nikon M?

I restored my Nikon M years ago but no ball bearing was found on the shutter shaft as far as I remember. But it is actually smoother in operation than a Nikon S.
