Has anyone tried the Nikon P 7000 ? Ok, it's not a RF but reasonably similar. Could it be the daily digital companion for who is used to RF cameras ? Any idea of low light performances ? Could compete against micre 4/3 ? Curious about your opinion.

PS Hope this is the right forum to post this question.

It has a regular point and shoot sized sensor - significantly smaller than m4/3 so it's IQ won't be as good. From memory it's a 28-200 or 300mm equivalent lens as well, which means that the lens will be mediocre quality.

Just my impressions without having used one.

How is it reasonably similar? Lookwise only maybe. VF unusable, just cosmetic. It's OK camera for what it is. Too big to be pocketable. I've shot with it one evening and can't say I'm tempted to use it again. Same old tired concept. I can't use these kind of things. Nothing new here. VR is nice, I noticed most my shots were at slow speeds yet reasonably sharp. External controls are nice. Summary - it's rubbish like most of compact non-4/3type (non-X100) digitals.

Here's lowlight shots for you, straight out of camera B/W Jpegs (mind that this is on firmware version 0.0).

What caught my attention (from advertising) was both, the controls and the VF, but having not tried one cannot evaluate. If VF is unusable it will be not the camera for me...thanks so far for taking time to give your ideas.

Forget about VF, it has 4% frame coverage or something like that.
Controls, on the other hand - true. Big improvement over P6000. You don't need to go into menu to change common settings.
I don't mean to be negative, it's a decent camera for that class. It's just that I'm not into these types of cameras myself. I'm waiting for X100 to fill my digital compact needs. Or something like GF1 (same size).
