Hi,

I'm the owner of a Nikon S(serial nr 6127281) and would like to know its worth before I sell it in Belgium. Could someone give me an approx. value? I'd be glad to send pictures if you want an idea of its condition.
Lens: Nikkor-H.C 1:2 f=5cm. Leather case included.

Many thanks, Robert.

Another place you will find the link to at the bottom left of the main page, it's the Nikon Historical Society. Heavy on the collectors, where are here you find users and collectors, but a great group of guys and gals.

Make sure you are signed in on evilBay and check to see what actually sold and for how much. They do not keep as much histoical information, but it's much better than nothing.

Robert, it seems that the S with the 50f2 brings about $300-400 at camera swap meets. The E-bay prices, at least the asking prices is usually a bit higher. The S is not as popular as the S2 and later as it has a rather mediocre finder, but it is an interesting camera none the less. The 24x34 format makes it stand out and also allows you to write small notes between the negs!
It is also a massively overbuilt camera, rather heavy and holds up quite well. With time they tend to do "their own thing" with the slow speeds, but everything else is usually OK.
Considering its value, I would keep it and actually use it. The 50f2 is a very good lens and sometimes it is good to go back to traditional shooting. Makes you appreciate how good some of the old masters really were when it came to exposures and composition.
