Is there really no easy DIY to treat a squeaky focusing helicoid on a Nikon rangefinder camera?

Thanks,

Simon

There are 1 to 3 shims in-between the body and focus helical underneath each of the the screws that hold the focus helical on the body. Be careful not to lose any and make sure they go back exactly where they came from otherwise you'll screw up the flange to focal plane (back focus) of the camera.

Thanks for sharing the bog, Jon! I owe you a ハイボール! 🙄

mine NEVER came with any shims so I am in the impression that whoever worked on this before me lost them! 😱😱😱

Good thing this isn't my main RF and my main camera is the Nikon F3 and Nikon Df 😎

You can reach the helical threads without disassembling the camera. Just extreme the lens mount all the way and you can see the very tail of them. As a little lens grease just a little dab in each thread. Then work it in.
