Yesterday, my Nikon S3 2000 set arrived. It s a beauty. Now I understand why some people collect cameras. The S3 looks like a piece of art. It seems to be like new, with the boxes. It includes the Millenium Nikkor 50/1.4 with matching lens hood and case. When my wife saw the camera, all she said was "beautiful".
I will not keep the camera and lens locked up. I want to use the lens, and since the S3 came with it, I will use the camera too. I have to admit that I am thinking of keeping the lens and selling the rest, but not now. I got an Amedeo adapter Nikon to Leica M, so I could use the lens on other cameras.
The VF is very bright. Focusing is a snap. I can't imagine to have the original S3 be even better, but some people here claim it to be true.
Oh well. I tried to stay away from owning a Nikon RF camera for many years, but I failed.

Congrats! did you get it from the classifieds here ? I had an S3 2000 a while ago, I love the lens, but had trouble with the silver RF patch. I found an SP much easier to focus w my eyes. I would love an SP 2005 kit, but is very pricey. The Millenium 50 with the S3 2000 is spectacular.
I'm eager to try a re-issue 35/1.8.
Congrats - and as they say, post pictures or it didn't happen!

Actually this isn't a matter of better/worse. The S3 2000 and original S3 1958 finders are different. The S3 2000 finder etched framelines rather look like the ones of the recent Cosina-Voigtländer external viewfinders (white and rather large lines), while the ones of the S3 1958 resemble the ones of the Leitz SBOOI finder of that era (very thin and golden lines). The VF is very bright. Focusing is a snap. I can't imagine to hae the original S3 be even better, but some people here claim it to be true.
The main advantage of the S3 2000 finder resides in the RF patch when compared with a faded S3 1958 one. And many of them have now faded (desilvering), so that there is very little contrast in the RF patch. But re. those on which the RF patch hasn't faded from desilvering, they still hold the comparison with the S3 2000 pretty well, and I personally much prefer the look of the 1958 framelines.
No big deal anyway.

I will any moment upload photos of the kit. I made sure to use a lens worthy of taking photos of this new kit! First, I used a Rollei 40/2.8 on the EP-2, followed by using the Zeiss 85/1.4 also on the EP-2. I don't have a light box, and I am not into taking fancy photos of camera equipment.

Thanks. I got the kit here at the RFF classified in LN condition from Darius for $1750 shipped. Brian told me "get it", while 4-5 other RFF members told me in the classified section to get it too. I had no other options to me other than to get it!

Yes, it did. I did not pay more than $1750.

Vielen Dank, Kent!
I am in the process of uploading photos of the kit here. I will use the kit soon, and I may start with using the lens on the M8 or M9.
