I got the pictures back tonight, I just got them done at CVS and they all came out
great, no light leaks, no flare the sharpness is amazing across the board with either
the 35mm or the 25mm. I thought I would always miss my Leica's but not anymore,
the Nikons are up there with them. There was a added bonus which I haven't spoke
of yet it came with a 50mmf1.4 lens the front glass is pretty sad lots of marks and their's
oil on the aperture blades, so what to do with this guy don't know yet.

This thread got me thinking about using the SP and the 35mm lenses. Dug up one of my more seasoned SP's and a selection of 35f2.5's - didn't realize that I had 5 of them + the VC 35f2.5 in S-mount and somewhere there is a 35f2.8 from a Kiev (and, yes I know that it can scuff up the front plate - but in this case, it is not a worry).
Also doing a trial with various 400 iso films in Rodinal (1:50/1:75/ 1:100 and possibly 1:200 stand development later). This is Legacy Pro 400 and Rodinal 1:75 for 16 min.

Just remove the lens bayonet outer chrome ring and file it down so that you remove about one millimeter of brass, then put it back on the lens and you won't scratch any Nikon RF body front plate any longer. But you know this already... 😉

Hi all,
Well I had to do it, I took off the front mount of the S3 it was to stiff to
focus so I hit with lighter fluid got stuck a few times but now is
better, any recommended oil or lube to put in those gears that would
be good to make it smooth. I also got at the pullet and can see the dirt
and old oil that's making it stick, so it a double job here.

I drop off my Nikon S3 at Nippon camera repair today to see if they could free up the pullet problem I have with the camera, hopefully it should not be that bad.

I am glad you found a good camera. I have always liked the S3, enough that I eventually bought three of them. I have three lenses that I like to shoot with, a 21mm Skopar, the 35/1.8 W Nikkor, and a recently acquired millennium Nikkor 50/1.4.

Once you get it cleaned up, you should find your S3 to be every bit as smooth and quiet as a Leica M. I often shoot with a pair of cameras, an S3 and an old Nikon F, or with a Leica M3 or M4, the S3 is the smoothest of the bunch.

I also love the photos I get with the Nikkor lenses. The 35/1.8 is a very sweet lens, but even the standard 50/1.4 or 50/2.0 are outstanding.

I hope you get your camera back soon, and get to using it, I'm sure it will be a pleasure.

I use two lenses with it and the S2 I have, a Nikkor 35mm f2.5 and a Voigtlander
25mmf4 lens, I also have a 50mm f1.4 but it's front element is marked up will
have to get the coating removed or redone.

Hi all,
Well after a week I got back my Nikon S3 with a few adjustments like the first
curtain speed, film counter index ring and lens lock lever it's good to go, the pullet
he left that as is, it should be fine it still doesn't turn, the tech said it's fine some old
Leica's don't turn ether but I might give it some very light oil again to see if I can
free it up.

Okay, I think I got my pullet to work finally, I found some ultra-lite oil with a metal
applicator which make pin point drops, so I took the front off again and put on a few
drops and it's starting to free up and spin when I turn the focusing wheel, nice!
