I'm a bit surprised this hasn't been talked about here--or, perhaps it has and I just missed it?--anyway, apparently Nikon will inspect and adjust our old Nikon SLRs. I google translated the page I've linked to, and According to that translation,
"It is a limited-time maintenance service targeting customers' long-term favorite products such as MF (manual focus) single lens reflex cameras including M, F, F 2, F 3, Nikomart and MF lenses. (Chargeable)."
I don't know if they will accept cameras/lenses from those of us who are not in Japan.
See here:

I wonder if any of our members in Japan might undertake to ask Nikon if thye're willing to accept cameras from overseas?
And, how much they (Nikon) are charging?
Rob
EDIT: the translated page does use the words "inspection" and "check" but doesn't actually say "fix" or "repair"...

They will service the old Nikon manual focus film SLR's like the F, F2, F3, F4, F5. They were once the Nikon service center for the middle part of the United States and they are very good. So there would be no need to send the camera back to Nikon in Japan.
Best,
-Tim

It did come up in a prior post but because of a translation issue rather than the actual service provided

Most likely (see below) the local (Japan) Nikon service is being outsourced to the following company.
Rangefinder camera Nikon I, M, S, S2, S3, S4, S3M, SP
Single lens reflex camera F · F 2 · F 3 · F 4 · F 5 · F 6 All models of Nikkormat / Nikomat
Nikon FE · FE 2 · FM · FM 2 · NFM 2 · FM 3 A · FM 10 · FE 10

Kiitos (located in the Tokyo area) has worked on a couple of F3s for me as well they AI-ed a Nikkor-H 2.8cm f/3.5. They do excellent work... including fix / repair... I don't know if they accept international orders. Parts for the older camera can be a bit of a problem.
