The auction this coming Saturday has more than its share of Nikon treasures.

Nikon One 60924 - the 3rd production Nikon per serial number, but perhaps the 2nd prototype body shell based upon internal numbers. \
I think its the earliest Nikon ever offered for public sale - a historical event to Nikon collectors! http://www.auction2000.se/auk/w.Object?inC=WLPA&inA=20160414_1608&inO=307

It's the 15th year anniversary of Westlicht Camera Auction.
NHS member Peter Coeln seems to have pulled all of the rabbits out of his magic hat.

I KNOW who owned that trifocal SP, it's the man with many avatars!

He better come forward and speak before we make too much noise!

I've not yet dabbled in the World of Nikon Rangefinder but, Christ! That's some mighty rare equipment. Certainly will make a real Collector happy. There's also some nice Leica stuff in there too, such as HCB's 35/2 Cron.

hmm. I wonder if that is the wrong lens cap

or if that is a super early lens cap made before the bulbous lens cap

I wonder if this one went for that much, how much the one we saw in Philly is worth?
The Philly camera had this number beat by 2

Kiu

I should have kept that trifocal, it almost doubled in price. :p

Then again, when I sold that camera, Apple was down around $15 a share.

It looks wrong, but the price displays how out of balance the world is from time to time.

Nikon collecting is on the wane, but prices for some items are very high.

To me it looks like Nikon collecting WAS on the wane,
and its now experiencing a comeback with new collectors.

Nikon collectors are not like Leica collectors -
Nikon collectors don't gladly pay more as some sort of badge of honor.

These buyers, of course, are a different kind of collector, we searched for cameras, the most I ever paid for a Nikon one was $9,000. And that seemed oddly lazy.

Not sure what to make of this. Obviously there are some deep pockets, for rare items.

It would be interesting to see what country the winners and bidders come from.

There are those among us who have so much money that they make this camera look like it sold for peanuts.

Two Qatari sisters were robbed north of Paris by masked men who took jewelry and other personal effects worth an estimated 5 million euros ($5.3 million), officials say. http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/22/europe/france-qatari-women-robbed/index.html
or
On October 3, American reality TV star Kim Kardashian West was tied up and robbed at gunpoint of an estimated $10 million worth of jewelry in a luxury private apartment in Paris' 8th Arrondissement by men dressed as police officers.

Kiu, there are some of us who don't know what the Philly camera is. Could you give more information?

I have written Peter at Westlicht auctions several times about items described incorrectly in their catalogs. The only reply I've gotten is "thanks for the information". The listing is never changed. Westlicht claims to have experts doing the evaluations, but their experts are not that expert.

60922 was put on the table after NHS-15 convention, we were allowed to photograph it and touch it but...the owner of 60922 did not want us to make too much noise about the camera(sorry, no pictures).
It is a very important camera to NHS, so the readers of NHS-133 journal got to see it as well, 60922 is presumably the first Nikon ever made to sell to public.
So if you want to know more or read about it, better subscribe to NHS journal.

I think Westlicht does a good job with their description, obviously it's geared towards advertising and selling the item. Consideration also has to be given for the volume they list, it's not easy listing 750 items and getting everything right.

Then again, when I sold that camera, Apple was down around $15 a share.

Is it better to have trifocal Nikon SP?
Is it better to have stock of Apple?

There is one Trifocal SP and 5.3 billion shares of Apple.

Hmmmmmmm.

I'll take the camera.

But then I may have to wait 50 years this time....
