Nikonos image request

Evening,

I just treated myself to a Nikonos V, but it won't arrive till next week!

Does anyone have any above water pictures taken with the 35/2.5?

I'd appreciate it :)
 
I could probably cull some together. There are a ton in the "Nikon Nikonos" Flickr community.

A really enjoyable outfit that goes anywhere at anytime. Practice loading the camera with a dead roll -it can be tricky.
 
Here's one taken last August just before my model (and me) submerged ourselves below the icy waters of Lake Huron. Tri-X rated at 1600 (not the best film for above water on a sunny day, but great for under water).

Hey Fred,

That's wild, I just got my first Nikonos yesterday, a Nikonos V with the 35mm lens. Just shot off a quick roll of Tri-X to make sure the camera was working properly before I sent it to Southern Nikonos to have the internal O-Rings replaced (I want to dive with the camera).

Nothing like Craig or Jim's pics, just a quick test. Noticed the lens flares quite a bit, might come up with a hood for it.

Thanks guys, I did check out the flickr group, but it hasn't seen many new uploads in the last few months that i've been after a Nikonos. There are some incredible images in it though. This camera seems to favour black and white film I think.

Hi Tim,

Yeah that's a coincidence, it's not your typical camera! I'm not using mine underwater (never say never) but I like the idea of a robust camera I can take anywhere, especially packing for travelling with a backpack.

Make sure to post a link up of your next few rolls and I'll try remember to do the same :)
 
I have had one for a good number of years. I have dove with it up to 60 feet without problems. It is an excellent camera for adverse or water conditions but it should be checked out. There are seals on the camera that do wear out and the Nikons V is getting old. I had mine serviced after I purchased it and it required replacement of the seals for diving. When you take the lens off you will see a black rubber gasket similar to a rubber band around the lens. This seal should be lubricated periodically. I lubricate mine about twice a year when I am taking it under water. The images it provides are very good but not up to the best Nikkor & Zeiss lenses that are available for Nikon cameras but considering that you will not be taking a standard film/digital camera underwater (pool) or onto a windy (sand flying) beach it provides you with the ability to capture moments that are not otherwise obtainable. All in all it is a very specific instrument for specific purposes/conditions.
