I've been on the road a bit. For the next two days I'll actually be in a place with no internet unless you are hard wired (no 4G, 3G, whatever). This means anybody who wants to start a thread will be able to do so without putting up with my interference.

Was in NYC for awhile. The War show at the Brooklyn Museum is excellent. Hooray to the Leonian foundation for their funding and backing a catalog which is in itself a good book. The Howard Greenberg Gallery has two excellent shows - Vivian Maier's self portraits and a retrospective of Jim Karales' work. Any street photographer has days when nothing seems to be happening. Invariably, you end up doing self portraits for want of anything else to do. Howard has culled those from Maier's work - and boy, are they good. Jim Karales worked with Gene Smith before heading off to Look Magazine. So Jim was not only a good photographer, he was a good printer. This is the best show I've seen of his work. Folks in NY might want to check out these shows.
